Dear BPS Families,
We
invite you to the 2012 BPS District-Wide Youth Arts Month Exhibition!
In accordance with the Boston Public
Schools’ Arts Education Policy, Curriculum and Instructional Practices/Arts
coordinates an annual Visual Arts Exhibition in conjunction with the national
Youth Arts Month (YAM) celebration. This year’s BPS YAM Exhibition will open on Saturday, March 31, 2012 and
close on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Boston City Hall.
In partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism, and Special
Events, this unique public exhibition showcases
exemplary artwork created by students from across the district. The thousands
of employees and visitors who pass through Boston City Hall everyday always
enjoy viewing our talented students’ artwork.
We cordially invite you, your family members, and friends to join us for
the 2012 BPS YAM Exhibition Opening Reception on Saturday, March 31, 2012, 9:00 a.m.
until 11:00 a.m. at Boston City Hall. All guests should enter City Hall on Congress
Street, 1st floor. (The Main Entrance, 3rd floor will be
closed.) A brief celebratory
program, featuring remarks by Mayor Thomas M. Menino and Superintendent Dr.
Carol R. Johnson and a performance by the Roosevelt K-8 School Chorus, will
begin at 9:30 a.m.
This year’s BPS YAM Exhibition will feature over
five hundred student artists and forty-four schools:
